Moroccan giants Wydad de Casablanca have appointed Spanish coach Juan Carlos Garrido as team's new boss, the club announced on Tuesday.

He will replace French coach Sebastien Desabre, who parted ways with Wydad last week after spending around one month with the Moroccan side.

Garrido was recently sacked from his job as Etoile du Sahel manager due to the team's poor results in the Tunisian league, which saw saw the team drop to sixth in the league table.

His first appearance as Wydad coach will be against his former side Etoile as both sides will face off in the CAF Champions league quarter-finals.

Wydad will host Etoile in the first-leg in Casablanca on Saturday, before heading to Sousse for the second-leg one week later

The 50-year-old tactician had a previous experience with Egypt's Ahly in 2014, guiding the Red Devils to the Egyptian Super Cup and Confederation Cup titles. After 10 months with Ahly, Garrido was fired due to the team's poor results in the domestic league.

Meanwhile, Moroccan reports said that Sebastien Desabre is set to be named as Ivory Coast's new coach, succeeding Ibrahim Kamara who was dismissed earlier this month.

Desabre took over at Wydad in January after leaving Egyptian side FC Pyramids by mutual consent following a brief tenure.
