CAF appoints Abdelmounaïm Bah Acting General Secretary after Hajji resignation

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) appointed on Tuesday Moroccan Abdelmounaïm Bah as Acting General Secretary, replacing compatriot Mouad Hajjiwho resigned one day earlier.

"Following discussions by the CAF Emergency Committee on Tuesday (3 March 2020), Commercial Director Abdelmounaïm Bah has been unanimously appointed Acting General Secretary," read a statement on the CAF official website on Tuesday.

"The members have full confidence in Bah who has exhibited good qualities since joining CAF, particularly during the Total Africa Cup of Nations Egypt 2019. Bah assumes office immediately till the next meeting of the CAF Executive Committee. 

"He will continue to serve as Commercial director, a position he has occupied since June 2018," the statement added.

Mouad Hajj stepped down on Monday, less than a year after assuming the vital role at the African governing body.

Hajji hasn't  announced any reasons for his resignation but CAF said that he stepped down for personal reasons and that he "needs to return to Morocco as soon as possible."
