Ghana’s sacked coach Goran Stevanovic said on Monday he is surprised after his sacking from his post as Black Stars coach, added he is not disappointed because he did his best with the team.
The Serbian coach was sacked on Monday due to the Black Stars’ frustrated fourth place in the last African Cup of Nations.
"I asked if there is any chance I can stay and they answered ‘no’ and I am sure that I did my job honestly,” Goran Stevanovic was quoted as saying by KickOff
"I am surprised because I think that semifinals are not a bad result. Everybody knows that our loss against Zambia was the first in a competitive game.” He added.
The Serbian coach was appointed as Ghana’s coach on the beginning of 2011, and the Blacks Stars produced a string of fine performance under his guidance.
He helped the Black Stars for a 1-1 draw against England in London.
Despite their loss to Brazil 1-0, the Black Stars played a great game against the Samba in London, last September.
“I remember the Brazil game, England game and they were all very good games. In football there is a lot of stress and it’s unpredictable. I am more surprised, I am not disappointed. It is normal in our lives." He concluded.
