Ghana Football Association (GFA) president Kwesi Nyantakyi announced Sunday that the board is doing their best to name the Black Stars' new boss ahead of this year's 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

“We are only interested in getting the best available technical expertise for the national team, regardless if it is a local or foreign coach," Nyantakyi was quoted as saying on the GFA official website.

The GFA president also revealed the criteria of the new boss, emphasising competence.

He assures that they will name a substitute coach in time for Ghana's first 2014 World Cup qualifier against Lesotho in June.

"There is no format for the selection of the Black Stars coach. The only criteria is competence," he added.

"The Executive Committee will be meeting very soon to kick start the process of appointing the next Black Stars coach."

"We are looking at making a decision very early, so whoever takes over gets at least six weeks to prepare the team for the qualifiers in June."

Early in March, Ghana FA showed coach Goran Stevanovic the door after his failure to win the African Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon.
