Uganda claimed a surprise 1-0 victory over the Democratic Republic of Congo in Cairo on Friday to reach the final of the Nile Basin friendly tournament.
Habib Kavuma pounced on an error from DR Congo keeper Muteba Kidiaba, who inspired TP Mazmbe to a second-place finish at the Club World Cup last month, to score the winner midway through the first half.
Kidiaba could only parry a tame effort into the path of the left-back, who made no mistake from close range.
DR Congo, who finished on top of Group B, were favorites to emerge winners but appeared out of sorts against Uganda.
Uganda will face either Egypt or Kenya, who meet in a Friday’s late kick-off, in the tournament’s final on Monday.
