Arsenal’s Aubameyang leads Gabon's squad for Egypt, Libya matches

Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been called by Gabonese coach Patrice Neveu to join the 21-man squad announced on Monday night to face Libya and Egypt next month in the in the 2022 African World Cup qualifiers.

The Gabonese national team is scheduled to open their qualification campaign by facing Libya on 1 September before hosting Egypt four days later.

Gabon were drawn in Group F of the World Cup qualifiers alongside Libya, Egypt, and Angola.

32-year-old Aubameyang was included in the squad alongside 12 other foreign-based players for the two qualifier games.

Gabon, who are eying their first ever appearance at the prestigious World Cup, have already booked a place in the 2021 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

Here is the 21-man squad:

Goalkeepers: Jean Amonome, Mfa Mezui, Donald Nzé.

Defenders: Lloyd Palun, Yoann Wachter, Johan Obiang, Manga Ecuele, A.Oyono, King-Musavu.

Midfielders: Biyogho Poko, A. Akue, Mario Lemina, Levy Madinda, Guelor Kanga, Serge Ngouali.

Attackers: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, D. Bouanga, Mezu Missi, Jim Allevinah, F. Ndzengue, Aaron Boupendza
