Cameroon, who strolled past Mozambique with a 3-1 home win on Friday, defeated the same opponents 1-0 on Monday, with Gent defender Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui scoring the winner six minutes past the hour mark.

Later in the day, Ivory Coast followed their 3-0 defeat of Malawi with a 2-1 victory in Abidjan.

Arsenal forward Nicolas Pepe put the Elephants ahead as early as the second minute but Khuda Muyaba brought Malawi level on 20 minutes.

AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie converted a penalty in the 66th minute to give the Ivorians all three points.

Ivory Coast top the group with 10 points, just one ahead of Cameroon with two matches remaining. Malawi (three points) and Mozambique (1 point), who are out of contention, lie third and fourth respectively.

Cameroon and Ivory Coast meet in the final round next month in what could be a decisive fixture to determine who would qualify for the final two-legged playoff.
