Nigeria's striker Ikechukwu Uche notched up late to give coach Stephen Keshi a winning start following a 1-0 win over minnows Namibia in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.

The Granada striker scored the winner 10 minutes from time with a close-range effort.

Nigeria are on top of Group F  with three points, two ahead of Kenya and Malawi who played out a goalless draw in Saturday's game in Nairobi.

Keshi was appointed as Nigeria boss in November last year, replacing Samson Siasia who failed to make use of the team’s bunch of talented footballers. The 50-year-old is burdened with the task of turning around their fortunes after they surprisingly failed to qualify for the 2012 African Cup of Nations.
