Zamalek forward Seifeddin Jaziri scored the only goal of the game in the 10th minute to fire the Carthage Eagle to the top of Group B courtesy to a better goal difference than their Gulf rivals.

Syria, who stunned Tunisia 2-0 last Thursday, threw away a qualification ticket that seemed in their grasp after conceding a shock 2-1 defeat against bottom-side Mauritania.

Mauritania striker Soueid Mohamed opened the scoring in the 50th minute but Mahmoud El Baher scored the equaliser for Syria two minutes later.

And while they were attacking en masse to grab a winner, Hemeya Tanjy scored a killer in the 90+4 minute to seal the first and only points for Mauritania in this tournament.

In Group A, Oman secured a large 3-0 win over Bahrain to seal their passage behind leaders Qatar who completed their perfect start of the tournament with a 3-0 win against Iraq.
