Group A leaders Sundowns tightened their grip on top with 13 points, followed by reigning champions Ahly on seven points and Sudan's duo Al Hilal and Al Merreikh on four.
Ahly, who are seeking to become the first team to win a hat-trick of straight Champions League titles, need only a home draw against Al Hilal in their final group-stage game next month to advance.
Al Hilal would have to beat Ahly to pip them on the head-to-head record after their clash in Omdurman ended in a goalless draw last month.
Striker Peter Shalulile put Sundowns ahead after just two minutes and Teboho Mokoena doubled the lead on the half-hour mark.
Al Hilal's Yasser Mohamed halved the deficit in the 50th minute but Thapelo Morena scored twice in the 60th and 90th minutes to kill off their hopes. Othman Mokhtar netted a consolation for Al Hilal in stoppage time.
