"It was a very balanced game. We played very well, dominated the game and created many chances but we weren't efficient. Egypt had one chance early in the game and they converted it," Cisse told the post-match press conference.
A fourth-minute own goal from Saliou Ciss gave Egypt a slim advantage. Senegal dominated the game in terms of possession but Egypt's compact defence and keeper Mohamed El Shennawi made some impressive saves to keep them at bay.
"This game is finished now and we must prepare for the next game and correct our mistakes," Cisse added.
"One nil is a result that we can overturn. I told my players we have another game at home in front of our fans, who will also have an impact, just like what Egyptians fans did today."
Senegal will host Egypt in the second leg in Dakar on Tuesday.
