The ban means Esperance will be deprived from their fans when they host Egyptian giants Ahly in the first leg of the Champions League semi final on Friday.
On Monday, CAF strongly condemned the irresponsible behavior of some Eseperance supporters during the quarterfinal match between their team and rivals JSK of Algeria in Tunisia two days earlier, which caused a 40-minute delay to the second half.
“The CAF disciplinary committee imposed a four-match fan ban on the club while playing at home due to the incidents of the JSK game,” Esperance said in a statement via its official facebook page.
“The ban will be reduced to just two games on condition that there will be no abuses in the coming 12 months. If a similar behavior repeated during next year the on hold two-match fan ban will be applied automatically while the club will be prevented from playing in the same competition next season,” the statement added.
CAF also punished the Tunisia giants with a $300,000 fine according to the club statement.
