Wydad coach Sven Vandenbroeck has expressed his concerns regarding the team's performance despite their qualification to Moroccan Cup semi-final, and has emphasized the need to build confidence ahead of their clash against Ahly in the CAF Champions League final.

Wydad secured their spot in the semi-finals of the Moroccan Throne Cup after defeating Difaa El-Jadida 2-1 on Wednesday.

However, Vandenbroeck was quoted by Moroccan newspaper "El-Botola" as saying that his team lost the ball too much during the game and that they need to improve their passing and positioning in attack.

"We are almost at the end of the season, and we have to perform well to maintain our level and gain in confidence before the final of the CAF Champions League," he concluded.

Wydad will host Moghreb Tetouan on Monday in the 26th round of the Moroccan league, where the Casablanca side are currently second in the league table with 53 points, just one point behind leaders AS FAR.

The Belgian coach took over the CAF Champions League title holders earlier this month after the Spanish coach Juan Carlos Garrido was sacked due to poor results in the domestic league and shaky performances in the continental competition.

Ahly advanced to the final after defeating Tunisia's Esperance 4-0 on aggregate, while Wydad secured their spot on the away goal rule after drawing 2-2 with South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Champions League final will be played over two legs, with Ahly hosting the first leg in Cairo on 4 June and the second leg taking place in Morocco a week later.
