Senegal strike Demba Ba announced his delight after scoring his first goal in six months in Newcastle Saturday’s Premier League 2-1 win against Tottenham.

"I'm happy I scored and the team won. It's been a good opening day for us," said the 27-year-old who was advised to leave his club adding that he wasn't going to leave as he is “happy here."

"I spent a lot of time after games watching them again the next day on my own and analysing them, seeing what I had to do to change the bad stuff. That's why I'm back on the score sheet,” Ba revealed.

"A lot of things were going on last season, I was playing on the side and out wide. I wasn't getting enough of the ball."

"I was coming too deep and they were putting the ball behind defences and I wasn't there, so I worked on that."
