CAF set draw date of Champions League and Confederation Cup group stages

The draw of the group stages of the African Champions League and the African Confederation Cup will take place on Friday in Johannesburg, South Africa, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced Wednesday.

In June, CAF confirmed that the group stages would commence between 24 and 26 November, and conclude between March 1 and 3.

The first leg of the Confederation Cup final is scheduled to be played on 11 and 12 May, with the second leg set for 17 and 19 May.

The first leg of the Champions League final will be held between 17 and 19 May, followed by the second leg between 24 and 26 May.

Egyptian giants Ahly began the campaign to defend their title with a convincing 3-0 victory over Saint George in the first leg, securing a place in the group stage with a 4-0 win in the second leg.

Pyramids FC, making their debut in the competition, earned their spot in the group stage after a goalless draw in their first leg against Rwanda's APR, followed by an impressive 6-1 triumph in the second leg of the round of 32.

In the Confederation Cup, Egyptian duo Zamalek and Modern Future FC secured their places in the group stage after defeating Arta Solar of Djibouti and Tanzania's Singida Big Stars 4-3 and 4-2 on aggregate, respectively.
