Algeria announce squad for Egypt friendly

Algeria coach Djamel Belmadi announced on Friday a 25-man squad that will play against Egypt in a friendly game on 16 October in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Rennes striker Amine Gouiri - who switched allegiance to play for Algeria - has received his first call up for the Fennecs.

The squad also includes captain and Ahli Jeddah winger Riyad Mahrez, West Ham winger Said Benrahma and Roma midfielder Hossam Aouar.

The Algerian team are set to play Cape Verde on 12 October before facing the Pharaohs.

Egypt will hold a training camp in the UAE from 9 to 17 October, as part of their preparations for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals and the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

During the camp, the Pharaohs will play two friendly matches against Zambia on 12 October and Algeria four fays later.
