Wydad set up Esperance showdown in the African Football League semis

Tunisia's Esperance and Morocco's Wydad of Casablanca will face off in the semifinals of the African Football League (AFL) after outclassing their rivals TP Mazembe of DR Congo and Enyimba of Nigeria respectively on Thursday.



Esperance advanced to this round with an impressive 3-0 victory at the Stade Olympique de Radès to overturn their first leg defeat 1-0 in Lubumbashi

Ghaith Wahabi in the 45+1 minute, Oussama Bouguerra in the 76th minute, and Mohamed Tougai in the 87th minute scored for the hosts to seal a 3-1 win on aggregate.

From the opening minute, the Red and Yellow team pressed forward, creating numerous scoring opportunities. They had to wait until the 45th minute to get a well deserved lead when Wahabi sent a glancing header at the far post.

The hosts maintained their pressure in the second half and it paid off as Bougerra scored from close range after being set up by Brazilian forward Yan Sasse.

11 minutes later, Tougai put the tie beyond doubt with a powerful header from point blank to secure a 3-1 win on aggregate.

In Casablanca, Wydad produced a masterclass in the first half to secure a 3-0 win to confirm their supperiority after the first leg 1-0 victory.

Amin El Amloud in the 4th minute, Jamal Harkass in the 38th minute and Yahia Attiyat Allah in the 43th scored for the three time African Champions.
