Having claimed a 1-0 victory in the first leg held in Casablanca on Sunday, the Moroccan side faced a strong challenge from Esperance de Tunis in the return leg played in Tunis.

Rodrigo Rodrigues, the Brazilian striker, managed to equalize the aggregate score by netting a crucial goal in the 66th minute.

However, Rodrigues later faltered by missing a penalty during the shootout, which allowed the visitors to advance to the final after converting all five of their shots.

Wydad de Casablanca will now prepare to face the winner of the match between Ahly and Sundowns from South Africa in the highly anticipated final, which will take place later on Wednesday.

The AFL, a collaborative effort between the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and FIFA, features a total of eight teams representing different regions of the continent. TP Mazembe from DR Congo, Esperance from Tunisia, Enyimba from Nigeria, and Wydad from Morocco are among the notable participants.

The champions of the AFL will be rewarded with an impressive prize of $4 million, making it the most lucrative payout among continental club competitions.
