The Leone Stars are eager to claim their first win in the group stage when they host Egypt in the second round of Group A games on Sunday at Liberia's Samuel Kanyon Doe Stadium.

"As we always say, you have to attack if you want to win football games, so we won't rely solely on defense but will instead focus on attacking to achieve a positive result," said Amidu Karim during the pre-game press conference.

"The upcoming game will be challenging, but we have prepared well to face Egypt, and we are confident going into the match," he added.

Drawn into Group A alongside Burkina Faso, Guinea-Bissau, Egypt, Ethiopia, and Djibouti for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, the Pharaohs currently lead the group with three points.

Egypt began their campaign with an impressive 6-0 victory over Djibouti, while Sierra Leone held Ethiopia to a goalless draw. Burkina Faso, on the other hand, was held to a 1-1 draw by Guinea-Bissau.

"Egypt is a strong team, and we are fully prepared for the game," concluded the Sierra Leone coach.
