The Super Eagles had to come from behind to salvage a point after Walter Musona's powerful free-kick put Zimbabwe ahead in the 26th minute.

Nigeria's response was muted in the first half, with their attacking duo of Terem Moffi and Nathan Tella struggling to find their rhythm.

However, coach Jose Peseiro introduced at half-time Iheanacho and Bayer Leverkusen's Victor Boniface to help his team turn his fortunes around.

The change paid off as Iheanacho equalized in the 67th minute, latching onto a brilliant pass from captain Moses Simon.

Nigeria pushed for a winner in the closing stages, but Zimbabwe's resolute defence held firm, ensuring a share of the points.

The draw leaves Nigeria with two points after two matches in Group C following a surprising 1-1 draw against Lesotho in their first match. South Africa are top of the group with three points and are yet to play their second game.
