They are currently two points behind group leaders Egypt.

Mauro Rodrigues scored the winner six minutes before halftime.

Despite playing with ten players since the 82nd minute due to Houboulang Mendes' red card, they managed to hold on to their lead.

In their opening match, Guinea-Bissau secured a 1-1 away draw against Burkina Faso on Friday.

Their next match will be a home game against Ethiopia in June, which is expected to be a relatively easier task for them.

Egypt, on the other hand, has had a strong start in the qualifiers, winning their first two matches against Djibouti (6-0) and Sierra Leone (2-0).

They currently lead Group A with a maximum six points.

Burkina Faso will face Ethiopia in their upcoming match, which will take place on Tuesday.

In the World Cup qualifiers, the winners of each of the nine groups will directly qualify for the tournament.

The best runner-up from all the groups will have a chance to qualify through a playoff round.
