Muntari's impact during his 88 minutes of play earned him the praise of his manager Steve Bruce.
“I thought Muntari was terrific for long periods of the game, but he did tire as you can imagine,” Bruce told the club’s official web site.
“I thought he had a fantastic debut and he looks like he‘s going to be a very good player for us,” he added.
Europe and Italy champions Inter Milan have loaned-out the 26-year international player to Sunderland for the rest of the season.
In other good news for the player, new Black Stars coach Goran Stevanovic included him in his squad for Togo’s friendly on Tuesday.
It’s the first call up for Muntari since the FIFA World Cup 2010 last June.
