Ghana and former Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien revealed that he is injury-free and ready to play under coach Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid for the rest of the season.
Essien, who was previously managed by Mourinho during his tenure at the London club in the English Premier League, refers to the Portuguese coach as "daddy."
"Everything went very fast, I was in my hotel room and I had a call from my daddy [Mourinho] and he said he would be very happy to have me at the club," Essien was quoted as saying on the Ghana FA official website on Saturday.
Real Madrid agreed to take the 29-year-old Ghana midfielder on loan from Chelsea for the rest of the season on transfer deadline day.
"I have had my injuries but I am in good form now and very strong. If I wasn't ready Real Madrid would not have brought me here," he added
"Daddy [Mourinho] knows me very well, he brought me to Chelsea, and he knows I can play in any position he wants - except goalkeeper," the midfielder added.
