CAF sets draw date for Champions League and Confederation Cup quarterfinals

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced on Tuesday the date for the draw of the Champions League and Confederation Cup quarterfinals.

The draw will be held on Tuesday 12 March in Cairo, Egypt, with the Confederation Cup draw starting at 2:00 pm Cairo local time (12:00 GMT), followed by the Champions League draw at 3:00 pm local time (13:00 GMT).

Egyptian powerhouse Ahly, the Champions League defending champions, secured their spot in the quarterfinals of the prestigious tournament after finishing at the top of their group, which included Young Africans of Tanzania, Algeria's CR Belouizdad, and Ghana's Medeama, with 12 points.

However, Pyramids FC, Egypt's second participant in the tournament, were eliminated after finishing at the bottom of their group with only five points collected from one win, two draws, and three defeats.

Cairo giants Zamalek also secured their place in the next round of the Confederation Cup by topping their group with 13 points.

Modern Future FC also advanced to the quarterfinals of the less prestigious continental tournament as runners-up in Group A with 11 points.
