Ghanaian supporters were behind the team’s 2-0 win over Malawi in their 2013 African Cup of Nations qualifier on Saturday, coach Akwasi Appiah has said.

“I think it is important that Ghanaians should still give us the moral support and every support they can give," Appiah was quoted as saying on Ghanasoccernet.

The Ghana players did not perform well against Malawi and doubts were raised about the Black Stars’ preparedness for the finals in South Africa early next year.

“We tried our best and Malawi was a difficult team but we have another game to play against them," he added.

“I believe the team will do better and the most important thing is that the support is there,” he concluded.

Ghana are scheduled to travel to Blanture next month for the second leg encounter against the Flames and must only avoid defeat to secure qualification to South Africa 2013.
