Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah included striker Asamoah Gyan in the 18-man squad for the friendly against Liberia on Tuesday during preparations for the African Cup of Nations (CAN) 2013 qualifiers.
The Black Stars tactician decided to rest six players from the initial 24-man squad that took part in the 2-0 home win against Malawi on Saturday.
The 26-year-old striker revealed that he informed the Ghana Football Association (GFA) that he will leave the squad immediately after the friendly to feature in Al Ain’s Emirati Super Cup against Al Jazira on September 15.
"I will be available to play for my country in the friendly against Liberia," Gyan was quoted as saying on football news website GhanaSoccerNet.
