Zamalek’s CAF Champions League opponents Ulinzi Stars failed to win the Kenyan Super Cup after losing 1-0 to Sofapaka.

Kenyan Cup holders Sofapaka retained the title, thanks to a goal from striker Jhon Baraza after 17 minutes.

Ulinzi Stars face an uphill climb to reach the Champions League round of 32 after suffering a 4-0 defeat at home to Cairo giants Zamalek. Both sides meet in the second leg of the preliminary round next Sunday.

Sofapaka, who were handed a morale boost following their Super Cup triumph, will play against fellow Egyptian side Ismaily in the Confederation Cup round of 32 on 20 March.
