DR Congolese side TP Mazembe announced on Monday that Zambian defender Stoppila Sunzu is flying to England to undergo medical tests at Reading, before officially joining the Premier league side.
The 23-year-old has quit Zambia's camp, in the midst of their preparations for the upcoming African Cup of Nations, in order to complete the deal.
"Indeed, Sunzu is heading to Reading for tests after the agreement by TP Mazembe and the Zambia Federation," Mazembe's president Moses Katumbi was quoted as saying by Sky Sports on Monday.
"He just sent us a message in which he thanked the club," he added.
The international defender, who was shortlisted for the CAF African player of the year (based in Africa) award, has two years remaining on his contract with TP Mazembe, but Reading have persuaded the DR Congolese giants to sell the classy defender.
