West Brom have turned down Queens Park Rangers' bid to hire Baggies' Nigerian striker Peter Odemwingie

Premier League side West Brom rejected Queens Park Rangers' request to acquire the services of team's Nigerian striker PeterOdemwingie during this winter transfer window.

The Nigerian striker, who is linked with West Bromuntil 2014, has expressed his desire to leave the Baggies as he wants to leave West Brom.

"QPR have made a second, improved offer for Peter, which we have turned down," West Brom's sporting and technical director Richard Garlick told the club's official website on Monday.

"As we have repeatedly stated, we have no need or desire to sell our core players." he added.

The 31-year-old, who was dropped from Nigeria's squad which played in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations, has made 80 appearances for West Brom, scoring 30 goals, since his arrival from Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow in the summer of 2010.
