The hosts struggled in vain to overturn a 3-0 first leg deficit, especially after Bernard Dong Bortey’s penalty goal in the 37th minute but Wydad players fought back to stop their opponents’ scoring hunger.

With this result Wydad Casablanca of Morocco advance 3-1 on aggregate and they are set to meet Nigerian Kano pillars FC in the second round.

Meanwhile, Egyptian Zamalek advanced too after beating Kenya's Ulinzi Stars 1-0 in Cairo to advance 5-0 on aggregate.

In other games, AS Vita Club of DR Congo defeated Zanzibar's Ocean View 3-0 to win 4-1 on aggregate; JCA Treichville from Ivory Coast thrashed AS FAN of Niger 3-0 to progress by the same score line and ASEC Mimosas, also from Ivory Coast, beat Mauritania ASC SNIM 2-0 to book their place in the next round, advancing 9-0 on aggregate.
