President of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) Aminu Maigari revealed his dismay at the FIFA World Ranking after his country dropped one place to number 36 in September.

The Nigeria boss believed his side deserve a more advanced place in this month's FIFA ranking as they defeated Malawi 2-0 -- becoming eligible for the final round of qualification to Brazil 2014 – as well as Burkina Faso 4-1 in Kaduna three days later.

"I am shocked that we dropped in the FIFA ranking, because everyone saw that we did very well this month with two very impressive victories against Malawi and Burkina Faso," the NFA president was quoted as saying on SuperSport, adding that he “still [doesn’t] understand how the rankings work.”

The FIFA World Ranking is a standing system classifying the teams of FIFA member nations based on the results of FIFA-accredited matches played during the period it sets for international games.
