Ghana have been hit with an injury blow as Evian's international defender Jonathan Mensah will miss the first leg of World Cup play-off against Egypt, set to be played in Kumasi on 15 October.
The 23-year-old sustained an injury during his side's 1-1 draw against Bordeaux in the French League on Saturday and tests revealed that he will need six weeks of treatment.
"Results from tests on my injury reveals I will be out for 6 weeks," Mensah said via Twitter on Monday.
"Bad timing but staying strong. Off for treatment!"
The international defender, who played with the Black Stars in the 2010 World Cup, has made two appearances with the Ghana squad this year against Lesotho and Sudan in 2014 World Cup qualifiers.
Ghana will host Egypt in Kumasi on 15 October in the first leg of the World Cup qualifying playoff. The return leg will take place in Cairo on 19 November.
