DR Congo's TP Mazembe put one foot in the CAF Confederation Cup final after beating hosts Stade Malien 2-1 in the first leg of the competition's semi-final on Sunday.
Mazembe midfielder Rainford Kalaba opened the scoring in the 12th minute and Tresor Mputu doubled the lead eight minutes later.
Stade Malien midfielder Morimakan Koita pulled one back on 27 minutes but his side will face an uphill climb if they are to cause and upset and reach the final. They host Stade Malien on 19 October in the second leg.
In the other semi-final tie, Club Bizertin were held to 0-0 draw at home to Sfaxien in an all-Tunisian clash.
Sfaxien could have a slight advantage in the second leg, as they will play before their fans on 20 October.
