Burkina Faso skipper Charles Kabore has expressed surprise over Algeria's performance in the World Cup playoff first leg on Saturday.

"Honestly, I didn't expect them to be capable of scoring twice in Burkina Faso," the 25-year-old who plays for FC Kuban Krasnodar said in the post-match press conference.

"The second leg will be really difficult. We need to score there to secure qualification," he added.

Aristide Bance converted a disputed late penalty to give Burkina Faso a 3-2 home win over Algeria on Saturday.

Algeria host Burkina Faso on 19 November in the return match and the overall winners qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
