Laying down at the bottom of the group D with a single point, Algeria is in a must-win situation against Morocco, who they host on Sunday in a crucial African Cup of Nations qualifier.

“I hope we win this crucial game to revive our hopes to reach the finals,” Benchikha was quoted as saying by Algerian news agency on Friday.

The Desert Foxes had a disastrous start after being held by Tanzania in a 1-1 home draw and losing to Central African Republic 2-0.

“I do not want to talk too much about the game - we must win the game on the pitch." He added "Our players are psychologically and physically ready for the challenge."

The Algerian coach has also called for fans to come out, foreseeing that their support could have a huge impact on his team for a decisive victory.

“I hope a lot of supporters will be there for us. We need them to support the players from beginning to end and keep cheering to help us achieve our target,” he concluded.
