Manchester City's Ivorian midfielder Yaya Toure has urged his former teammate at Barcelona Lionel Messi to join him at the Etihad Stadium.

Recent reports claimed that Messi's future with the Spanish giants is uncertain, especially after the reportedly rift between the superstar and Barcelona vice-president Javier Faus over contract talks.

Messi's countrymen Sergio Aguero and  Pablo Zabaleta have recently said they he would love to see Messi playing with them at City, before Ivory Coast ace Toure echoed the same sentiments.

"If it's to come to City, I hope Messi can leave Barca," Toure was quoted as saying by Skysports on Monday.

The 26-year-old Messi helped Barcelona win the 2012-13 Spanish league title by scoring 46 goals, despite missing several games through a right hamstring injury near the end of the season.
