On target against Bastia, Ghanaian striker Majeed Waris enjoyed a promising debut with his new club Valenciennes.

The 22-year-old completed his move to Valenciennes from Russian side Spartak Moscow last week helped his team to earn a 3-2 win over Bastia on Saturday in his first appearance in Ligue 1.

The international striker expressed delight with his ideal debut, promising more efforts with his new side.

"I feel extremely glad that I scored what eventually became the match winner for my side," Waris told Ghanasoccernet on Sunday.

"My job is to score goals and I’m very happy I did it yesterday. I know if I work hard enough, there will be more to come."

Waris was a key member in Ghana's triumphant campaign in the African qualifiers for this year's World Cup, helping the Black Stars to earn their third consecutive appearance in the world tournament.
