Fortuna Dusseldorf's defender Leon Balogun has been called up by Nigeria coach Stephan Keshi for their friendly against Mexico.

The Super Eagles face Mexico in Atlanta on Wednesday as part of their preparations for this summer's World Cup finals in Brazil.

German-born defender Balogun, who is uncapped, was selected to replace skipper Joseph Yobo, who was dropped from the squad due to a knee injury.

“Yobo is out of this friendly against Mexico for injury reasons and has been replaced by Fortuna Dusseldorf’s Leon Balogun," Nigeria's media officer Ben Alaiya told local media on Tuesday.

“He is already here with us in Atlanta."

Nigeria were drawn in Group F of the World Cup along with heavyweights Argentina, Iran and Bosnia.
