Spain coach Vicente del Bosque dropped under-performing goalkeeper Iker Casillas for their Euro 2016 qualifier against Luxembourg on Sunday, giving the nod instead to Manchester United's David de Gea.
The 33-year-old Casillas has played 158 times for Spain as they won back-to-back Euros in 2008 and 2012 and also the 2010 World Cup.
But the Real Madrid 'keeper was poor in Spain's 2-1 defeat by Slovakia in their Group C clash on Thursday having been under pressure since a first-round exit at the World Cup, notably in a 4-1 rout at the hand of the Netherlands.
