An angry Cristiano Ronaldo has pledged not to talk publicly till the end of the season as he was understandably enraged with Real Madrid's dismal showing against Schalke in the Champions League last-16 return leg.

Following a 2-0 first-leg victory away from home, the Champions League holders faced the risk of elimination from the competition's last-16 after losing 4-3 to the Bundesliga side at the Santiago Bernabeu.

And despite becoming the all-time top-scorer in European club competitions following his brace on Tuesday night, Ballon d'Or winner Ronaldo was left frustrated with his team's below-par performance.

'I won't talk again until the end of the season,' Ronaldo told reporters after the game.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti, however, refused to come down hard on his star forward who left the pitch to jeers and whistles by the home fans, indicating that he “scored  two very important goals but the rest were not at his level.”

It remains to be seen what Ronaldo's future will be, as he is being reportedly targeted by old club Manchester United.
