Jurgen Klopp wants to stand down as Borussia Dortmund manager at the end of the season, German daily Bild reported on Wednesday.

The 47-year-old, who joined the club in 2008, intends to step aside one year before the end of his contract.

According to Bild, he wants to refresh his batteries after a successful seven-year spell at Dortmund during which he has led them to two Bundesliga titles (2011 and 2012), a German Cup (2012) and the final of the Champions League (2013).

The club refused to comment on the report but has called a press conference for later Wednesday.

Dortmund have encountered a difficult season, with Klopp guiding them from at one stage the bottom of the table into their current position of 10th.

Bild suggest Klopp will be replaced by Thomas Tuchel, the 41-year-old who has taken a one year sabbatical after leaving Mainz in May 2014.
