Gareth Bale and Luka Modric left Real Madrid's match against Malaga with leg injuries on Saturday, four days before their Champions League second-leg quarterfinal against Atletico Madrid.

Madrid spokesman Emilio Burtagueno said they were "concerned" about both players and would have to wait for medical tests on Sunday to know the extent of their injuries.

"It's a bad moment for Bale to get hurt. We will have to see what the tests say tomorrow," Burtagueno said. "And Modric also worries us. When we only have four days before the quarterfinal return leg, it's not good news."

Bale sat on the turf at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium rubbing his left calf before team doctors signaled to coach Carlo Ancelotti that he needed to be changed in the fourth minute of the Spanish league match.

Modric went down in the 57th after hurting his right knee.

Madrid will be missing suspended defender Marcelo on Wednesday, when it hosts Atletico with their tie poised after a 0-0 draw in the first leg.

Madrid went on to beat Malaga 3-1 and remain two points behind league leader Barcelona.

Ancelotti left Karim Benzema off his squad for the Malaga match as the striker received a knock in training on Friday. Ancelotti said he hoped to have Benzema back for the decisive match against Atletico.

Bale has 19 goals in 43 games for Madrid in all competitions this season.

Modric has already missed three months of this season because of a left thigh injury.
