Two days before a decisive match against Ecuador, Lucio said Monday that Brazil’s youngsters need to do more to honor the famed yellow jersey in the South American competition.
Lucio says he talked to the squad to try to motivate the players and show that it’s time “to give a little bit more” to the national team. He says they need to know that Brazil’s emblem on the front of the jersey is much more important than their name on the back.
Brazil needs to win Wednesday to advance from the first stage without depending on other results.
Lucio is the most experienced player in a Brazilian team being revamped for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
