Dynamo Kiev gets empty stadium order for racist fan attacks

AP , Wednesday 25 Nov 2015

UEFA has ordered Dynamo Kiev to play two home games in an empty stadium after racist attacks on fans at a Champions League match.

UEFA says a third closed-door match sanction is suspended for three probationary years.

Dynamo, whose former president Hrigoriy Surkis is a UEFA vice president, was also fined 100,000 euros ($106,000).

Dynamo fans attacked at least eight fans in a home section of the Olympic Stadium during a game against Chelsea on Oct. 20.

Most of the victims were black, and some were white who tried to protect the black fans.

Dynamo will play in an empty stadium against Maccabi Tel Aviv on Dec. 9.

The second closed-door match will be in the Champions League round of 16 or Europa League round of 32 next year.
