Former Egypt striker Ahmed 'Mido' Hossam will shave his head over a wager that Leicester City would not win the English Premier League.
"I will shave my head on air Saturday," Mido stated in a sports television program Monday evening shortly after the title was decided.
The ex-Tottenham Hotspur ace received dozens of comments from fans through social media and TV, including football colleagues such as his former assistant at Zamalek, Hazem Emam, and Hull City winger Ahmed Elmohamady. Other notable Egyptian figures, like actor Mohamed Henidy, joined in the calls for Mido to fulfill his promise.
The 33-year-old, who had stints in the Premier League throughout his career, stated earlier this season that he would shave his head if underdogs Leicester won the title.
The Foxes' 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford Sunday put title party on hold, but the team's fairytale season was completed soon thereafter when Tottenham drew 2-2 at Chelsea 24 hours later.
"Congratulations to Leicester… it's a big victory for football but don't forget that Tottenham were the best this season," Mido stated in Arabic on his official Twitter account.
Mido is currently a regular TV football pundit after his coaching spell at boyhood club Zamalek ended early this season.
