The announcement on Monday came after Slovenia failed to qualify for Euro 2012, trailing Italy, Estonia and Serbia in Group C.

The Slovenian FA says that “without a doubt Matjaz Kek has been a good general manager and achieved excellent results with the national team.”

Kek became the national team coach in 2007 and took Slovenia to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

The identity of Kek’s successor is not yet known.
