Madrid says the Argentina forward injured a muscle in his right thigh in training on Saturday, although the Spanish club did not say how long Di Maria would be sidelined.

Di Maria, who has been one of the Spanish league leader’s standout players this season, also missed playing time in November with a hamstring injury.

Madrid, which leads defending champion Barcelona by three points, has its next league game on Jan. 7 against Granada.
