Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson says striker Wayne Rooney and midfielder Tom Cleverley will miss England’s international friendly with the Netherlands on Wednesday.

Rooney has a throat infection that has forced him out of United’s last two matches while Cleverley has been struggling with an ankle injury.

Chelsea's Gary Cahill, left, shakes hands with Bolton manager Owen Coyle after the English Premier League soccer match at Stamford Bridge, London, England, Saturday Feb. 25, 2012.

When asked about the pair’s availability for England, Ferguson says “they’ll be out.”

Rooney and Cleverley join Darren Bent in being ruled out of the England squad, after the Aston Villa striker injured an ankle duing his team’s 0-0 Premier League draw at Wigan on Saturday.
