After Wednesday’s breathtaking semifinal between Spanish giants Real Madrid and German powerhouse Bayern Munich that ended with Bayern going through to the final against English Premier League side Chelsea, Egyptians, as usual, have told many jokes about the defeat of the Spaniards.
Egyptian football fans are obsessed with Spanish football and are split into two main blocs, with one supporting Real and the other supporting Barcelona, which was eliminated by Chelsea Tuesday.
Since the cancellation of the Egyptian Premier League due to the Port Said football disaster on 1 February, Egyptian football fans have kept themselves busy by teasing each other over the tribulations of the international clubs they follow.
Real centre back Ramos said he doesn’t expect to be blamed his penalty kick miss, insisting that, "When you feel you have enough confidence to do something like that – as I did – you want to help your team.”
Some Barcelona fans in Egypt mocked him on Facebook and Twitter by recommending that he should "start playing Rugby.”
