Racing Santader confirms US defender Carlos Bocanegra will be out of action for 6 weeks with a muscle problem

Spanish club Racing Santander says US defender Carlos Bocanegra will be sidelined for six weeks because of a muscle tear in his left leg.

Bocanegra was injured during the United States' 2-2 draw with Russia on 14 November.

Bocanegra is playing for Racing in Spain's second division on loan from Scottish side Rangers.

He shouldn't miss any time with the American national side, set to resume play against Honduras on 6 February.
